尋找JACK之旅VI – 台灣！對話王仲堃
“最開始是從什麼時候對藝術創作感興趣？”
王仲堃：念國中的時候，美術老師覺得我對繪畫很有天分，拿到一些獎，然後就由此上了美術高中。那個時候對於藝術是什麼有了概念，也奠定了我對藝術和生活的最原始的追求。後來進了台北藝術大學，有點翻盤我對藝術的想像。在大學的培訓下，讓我認識到要走創作這條路，必須有獨特的個人風格——我到底要做什麼？三年級的時候我選擇了雕塑。回到小時候的經驗，就特別喜歡拆解家電，看看裡面是不是藏了神秘的機關，會動的東西對我來說一直是有趣的。後來瞭解在雕塑藝術裡有一個類別叫“動力藝術”，在機械開始運動的時候會產生時間性，伴隨而來的還有噪音聲響，這讓我對聲音也著了迷。所以“運動”和“聲音”一直是我作品裡最重要的兩個元素。
“為什麼會選擇聲音作為創作最重要的元素？”
王仲堃：因為聲音和雕塑很像，它們都很需要空間感，但雕塑比較內斂在形體上，但聲音就會全然分佈在整個空間裡，可以形成一個氛圍。最根本的是，我們可以選擇不看，但不可以選擇不去聽，一個強力介入到我們感官的元素。我曾經做個一個展覽，是一個孤單的木魚，自己敲打自己，好像是在為自己誦經祈福一樣。那個作品聲響很大，環繞在整個空間裡，你還沒有看到它，但一定會注意到它。聲音的存在讓人有一種無法抗拒的刺激。
“做過的和台北市井有關的聲音作品是什麼？”
王仲堃：我曾經用自己的身體做過一個共鳴腔。經常會騎機車閒逛，逛得起興的時候會唱歌，我發現地面不平的時候，在機車上的聲音就會被扭曲。然後我在安全帽上架了一個攝影機，拍攝我發出“啊”時被扭曲的聲音。我這個單獨的個體，在這個碩大的城市裡是在被動影響著的。於是我把三個“我”的影像合併在一起發出聲音，這樣造成的影響力是你在日常生活裡可能會忽略掉的。
“你創作的初衷是什麼？”
王仲堃：我創作的初衷是尋找聲音更多的可能，聲音藝術的創作可以追溯到很久以前，但還是充滿了無限的可能。很有趣的一點是，聲音的存在是我們意識到它，它才存在。而且我的創作儘量避免和文本及社會的關係，我的創作是回顧到個人和感官的感受。藝術的創作沒有高低，直觀地表達感受反而會讓創作回到它原來想要訴說的命題。
“剛開始創作很多東西都不太懂會不會有點困難？”
王仲堃：很多人發現我的作品都由自己獨立完成，會感到有一點驚訝。這個時代的藝術創作可能不要求藝術家所有事情都要自己做了。我很喜歡做木工，這些作品的形狀就可以我自己來完成。我在網路的社區也學到了很多。我對於知識的渴望還是很強烈的，我覺得掌握更多和創作“無關”的技術，我就更能夠精準地定位最後的成品會長什麼樣子。
“為什麼切割，電焊這種粗活也要自己做？”
王仲堃：除了剛開始的靈感湧上來，創作的過程就好像在實驗室裡做實驗，不斷地嘗試、失敗、改進，動手製作的過程當中，很多想法會因為自己親手動手去做產生不一樣的結果。
“想讓自己的作品往更實用的方向靠攏嗎？”
王仲堃：有一個故事很有趣，台灣的男生在大學畢業後都要面對去當兵的問題。我在2012年時當了一年兵，在軍隊裡沒有任何的自由，甚至連思想他們都要去管。當時我的戰友就問我畢業後要做什麼，我說要當“職業藝術家”，他們一臉狐疑地問我“藝術家可以當飯吃嗎？”在這個圈子裡面，我很容易和其他的藝術家溝通，但是和普通的民眾溝通就會有很大的隔閡。可是我覺得當代藝術為什麼是精英的藝術呢？所以我當時和台北數位藝術中心的總監提出了要改造咖啡廳的想法，讓聲音變得更有趣，讓抽屜和桌子都發出聲音，大眾可以自由地在這個空間裡玩耍。我想讓大家借著聲音更加親近藝術。
“以後還有更多“和人互動”的聲音作品嗎？”
王仲堃：我們成立了一個組織叫“噪咖事務所”啊，想要完成一些更實用的聲音裝置，比如傢俱和電器，甚至有一些娛樂性高的機械樂團。我會把我的創作分成兩塊，實用和個人。我有一個計畫叫“百聲計畫”，就是一百個不同的東西發出各種聲響，想通過不同的實驗做無窮無盡的可能，在一個場地裡和觀眾裡產生互動。在創作中很重要的一點是要看到需要學的東西時再去學，不用先去上一個課程。開始的那個動作最重要，很多東西都可以自己完成，不必要花很多的經費，去找代工廠。
“你覺得網路是絕對必不可少的嗎？”
王仲堃：很多資訊在異地同時發生，你可以知道德國人在做什麼新技術，法國人發表了什麼。這個資訊是平等的，人不在國外，可能就能知道很多事情。我之前在國外交流的時候，會去找那些在台灣一直保持聯絡的老師傅，和我分享和學習。他們的規模不大，但對創作人保留著很友善的環境，找材料很方便。台灣對新媒體藝術的接受度很高，大家對於稀奇古怪的東西很有興趣，會有不同的想法，也想進一步去瞭解。聲音藝術在台灣發展了二十多年，早期是一些很社會運動的東西，現在就回歸了個人，希望讓很多對聲音藝術有興趣的人都有展示自己的平臺，在這個過程中發現有固定來觀看的人，也有很多新面孔，臺灣人對於新的東西保持一個新鮮的頭腦去面對。我也很感激這一點。
